The Classic Car & Sports Car Show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham was again a great success - the exhibiting of a complete car and chassis 049 were very well received.

for an update on the 2007 show, please go the section on 2007 events.

Recent Press reports

1.     The January edition of Classic Motor Monthly had an interesting review article on the history of the Gordon-Keeble car, the Owners Club and its activities.

2.     Classic and Sports Car magazine had a review article which pitched the Gordon-Keeble against the Aston Martin DBS V8 and the Jenson Interceptor SP. Author, Russ Smith, favoured the Gordon-Keeble.

(Not surprising, really)

Caution

For those drivers approaching 70 years of age.

It has been noted that when applying for a replacement driving licence upon reaching the age of 70 years,  the replacement licence only contains the class A for motor cars.  If you have other classes on your licence, you are strongly advised to take a proper copy or photocopy of it so that you can prove that you had these other parts to your driving licence. The DVLC are very reluctant to re-instate the other classes without proof.  Stating that you had them before is not apparently sufficient proof for them as they may well not have a separate record.

Road Safety Issues

There is currently considerable controversy over the use of speed cameras and road furniture as safety measures to reduce accidents and injury to road users.

The technique of safe driving  is well demonstrated by such organisations as The Institute of Advanced Motorists, Safe Speed and a recent publication entitled “Mind Driving” by Stephen Haley
