Useful technical tips

Did you know that:-

Although the battery may apparently charge well and show 13.4 volts on testing, an early sign of failure is shown by the battery failing to deliver at least 250amps on cranking.  If this happens, the battery is on the way out and cannot be relied on for starting the engine, hot or cold.  To demonstrate this early failure, requires a special meter which a good battery supplier keeps.

When connecting jump leads, first connect positive terminal clamp to the donor battery, then to the slave battery.
Next connect negative (earth) terminal clamp to donor battery then to the slave chassis (i.e. not battery negative terminal). This method  prevents damage to the ecu and generator diodes.
